Carer Assessment Practitioner

Full-time maternity leave position - 12 month contract

The core mission of Anglicare (NSW South, West & ACT) is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for children, young people and families. We have a particular focus on serving vulnerable communities in the ACT and regional and rural NSW.

We are seeking a Carer Assessment Practitioner who is passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people. This new position is part of the wider team of Senior Carer Practitioners across our foster care services. The Carer Assessment Practitioner will play a vital role in making sure children and young people have the opportunity to grow in loving and committed foster families.

The Carer Assessment Practitioner will work closely with the Foster Care Team and Carers to support high-quality placements for children and young people. The successful person will have current, comprehensive understanding of out of home care services; particular skills in family and foster carer assessments; and the capacity to provide guidance regarding best practice placement planning outcomes for children and young people in foster care. Experience and commitment to working in culturally safe ways with Aboriginal young people, their families and communities is also required

Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology or a related discipline are mandatory, as well as a minimum 3 years' experience working with children, young people, their families and carers preferably in Out of Home Care. A valid driver's license is required.

The salary is negotiable and paid from the Community Services Worker (NSW) award dependent on qualifications and experience. (pro-rata for part-time), plus 9.5% employer superannuation guarantee. Generous salary packaging benefits are available under Anglicare's PBI status, up to $15,500.00.

Applicants will be required to undertake the psychometric profiling instrument - SafeSelectTM. Applicants must obtain a Working With Children clearance through the Office of the Children's Guardian (NSW) and undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to an offer of employment.
