The core mission of Anglicare (NSW South, West & ACT) is to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for children, young people and families. We have a particular focus on serving vulnerable communities in the ACT and regional, rural NSW. Anglicare is also committed to planning for all Aboriginal children and young people within the Anglicare Permanency Support Programs to transition to Aboriginal controlled services.

We are seeking a Senior Carer Practitioner who is passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people. This position is part of the wider team of Senior Carer Practitioners across Anglicare PSP programs. You will play a vital role in making sure Aboriginal children and young people have the opportunity to grow in loving, safe and committed Aboriginal kinship or foster family placements.

Your responsibilities include working closely with the Yiriyirimbang Foster/Kinship Care Team and Carers to support high quality placements for Aboriginal children and young people.

You will have

  • Current, understanding of the Permanency Support Program (PSP) services;
  • Particular skills in family and foster carer assessments;
  • Experience in working with Aboriginal children, young people, their families and communities
  • Cultural competence in supporting the placement needs of Aboriginal children, young people and their families involved in the PSP program.
  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology or a related discipline (or having already substantially commenced these qualifications);
  • A valid driver's license.

The salary range for this position is $75,107 to $79,040 per annum, plus 9.5% employer superannuation guarantee. Generous salary packaging benefits are available under Anglicare's PBI status. Anglicare also offers other benefits including additional personal leave and paid parental leave. The position will transition to work with Orange Aboriginal Medical Service following the future planned transfer of the Yiriyirimbang service to this organisation.
